NEW RIDER AT AMELIA PARK

Welcome all, we hope you enjoyed your weekend and report as follows:

NEW RIDER
Lou Luciani was welcomed to the farm yesterday and dined with Peter last night. Lou is down overseeing the horses and will be spending a lot of time here freshening up the horses before they go back to his stables. Peter said it was great to watch Lou doing trackwork this morning and Lou will in time maybe sending Dion down to do some riding and watch the horses pre-training procedure's.

THIS WEEK
ALMOHAD - is being freshened up here by Lou and then onto Perth to hopefully give it a good shot for a run this week.

HIFALUTIN - Didn't get a crack at last run so with a good barrier draw we are looking forward to a better show.

A LONG SHOT BET FOR BOTH

AMELIA PARK
Another busy week for Peter. Entertaining most nights, Tuesday he will be host to friends from South Africa who have just competed in the Ironman Event in Busselton this past weekend. They will certainly be ready for some relaxation and enjoyment. We can only try and imagine what it must be like to compete and the never ending Training in these events!!!

The farm is looking an absolute treat at the moment and you can see everyone (including the horses) enjoy their days at AMELIA PARK.

WELCOME BACK WANGA

We are all very pleased to welcome Wanga back after all his operations and hopefully full recovery. It hasn't been the same without his jokes at smoko.

Have a great week everyone

Hello everyone,

I do apologise but our Report won't be posted now until next week.

Peter returned home from China this week and has been very busy and we haven't had a

It was supposed to be yesterday but having entertained SAM HAYES AND DARREN THOMAS at the Cellar from pm to am the next morning, I didn't feel right disturbing Peter.

So I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful SUMMER DAYS & NIGHTS.

Till next week,

WINNER & WEDDING

Hello everyone, we hope you all enjoyed your week and report as follows on our week, last and next.

TOP WEDDING DAY AT AMELIA PARK
What a day of celebrations! Kristy looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown and Jason came up a treat also. It was planned perfectly as the rain went and the sun shone just at the right time. We all had a great night with dancing and merriment, I believe a group stayed until dawn, which included Peter, so Sunday was a quiet day on the farm.
TO TOP OFF THE DAY ALMOHAD CAME HOME FIRST. The Wedding group cheered him home SO MORE CELEBRATIONS.
Kristy & Jason headed off on Sunday to Bali to be spoilt by the staff at Tanah Lot so we do hope they are enjoying their Honeymoon.

SANDOWN
EUROPA POINT - SECOND
Peter thought the horse should have won, we think the jockey went to sleep towards the end but still happy with the result. Time for a spell now and then hopefully will move up to Sydney for group races in the near future.

REPRISAL - DISMAL
Very flat today, not sure where we are going with this horse, still pondering.

SATURDAY - 21st AMELIAS GLORY
Looking forward to a good run this week to show future prospects.

BUNBURY - OUR JOCKEY
Kevin ran a great race to bring home 3rd, he is really progressing well and Peter is behind him all the way.

CHINA
Peter is off on an exciting trip next week with Jeremy Gordon. Peter has formed a joint Partnership with Jeremy who is well known for collecting the Jimmy Watson Medal Award for BEST WINEMAKER IN AUSTRALIA. Peter will be introducing Jeremy to China and discussing the AMELIA PARK WINE for them to import next year. Peter is very excited with this new Venture as well as during next year having a vineyard with a Restaurant under the guidance of World known chef NEIL JACKSON.

AMELIA PARK
Experienced a freak storm last week that lasted for hours. Luckily no damage and the creek was gushing through the next day so I am happy it will be running a lot longer. The Alpacas all had their hair cuts yesterday so looking very thin and ragged but great for the Summer ahead.
All the big trucks are back again, finishing off the entrance road to Annies house so the cars wont have to be cleaned as often now.

Thats this weeks news and Peter will report from China next week.

ITS RACING TIME

Hi everyone and welcome to an exciting week of racing ahead.

3 HORSES WITH BIG CHANCES TO WIN

SATURDAY - ASCOT
HIFALUTIN & ALMOHAD
Peter is very excited with the return of these horses. They are back to their best and it will be
close watching to see how they perform on the day.

SATURDAY - SANDOWN
EUROPA POINT
Lets see if we can improve on 2nd last week to bring it home all the way. It should prove a winner on its current form and performance.

REPRISAL
Can't put a finger on any problems with the horse so hopefully just had a bad day last week and
looking forward to a better performance.

SATURDAY - ASCOT 7TH
AMELIAS GLORY AND RED TIME RUNNER
Even though the end result for both horses was a bit disappointing it is early days for the 2 babies and time and experience should return good results in the future.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALLS
Go out to AMLESS AND MASON on the farm. The cream sponges certainly make a welcome change at smoko compared to the usual milk arrowroot biscuits.

AMELIA PARK IS AT ITS BEST
Peter is delighted with the excellent state of the Park. The trees are thriving and the lawns and gardens are picture perfect. IT IS IN PRIME CONDITION FOR THE WEDDING

WEDDING BELLS AT AMELIA PARK
KRISTY - our Stable Manager, will be walking across the bridge in the beautiful setting at the Farm on Saturday afternoon to wed Jason. We are all looking forward to celebrating with Kristy and can't wait to see her in her wedding gown (it will certainly make a change from riding helmet and boots for her).

Peter and all staff at Amelia Park send all our very best wishes to both Kristy and Jason for their future together.

We hope you all enjoy your week and will report on the racing results next week.

MELBOURNE CUP DAY - 2 SECONDS

Hello everyone, what a week it has been and hopefully everyone HAD A COLLECT.

MELBOURNE
Peter has arrived home from an enjoyable time during the Cup Week.

REPRISAL
Peter and Haysey were very disappointed with the race. The horse was thoroughly checked over after the race as they thought something must be wrong, but alas it was just a bad run. They will try it in another week or so to check its form.

EUROPA POINT - MELBOURNE CUP DAY
What a race, it looked like a winner but just got beaten to come home 2nd. Overall Peter still
very very pleased with the result.

ASCOT
AMELIAS LAD - 2ND
Very pleased with the result considering the Lad had a bone chip in the knee but should recover quickly.

LADY XAAR - Coming Home
No luck at this stage due to barrier and got caught so home to Amelia Park for a rest.

ASCOT - SATURDAY 7TH

BUSY RACING & SOCIAL WEEK

Hello again, we hope you enjoy our news update this week.

SATURDAY - COX PLATE AT AMELIA PARK
The Annual Cox Plate Luncheon was again a great success through the generosity of Peter.
Each year he invites a group of Gentlemen, both the young and the young at heart, for a day
of merriment. The pretty waitresses did a wonderful job in keeping the drinks flowing which continued well into the night. From my veranda I wondered how Peter and some of the late stayers did not continue on with their singing careers!!!

ALMOHAD winning on the day made it all the more enjoyable and well overdue.

The disappointments on the day was LADY XAAR who was slow to start and couldn't make up the distance and RED TIME RUNNER had everything go wrong in its first up but shows great potential and just needs a bit more racing and experience.

RACING RESULTS
WEDNESDAY 21ST
AMELIAS LAD - 4th, BELLS AWAY AND DIVINE ANNA also started but disappointing results. Kevin rode Divine Anna but through no fault of his the horse would not perform.

SPECIAL TELEVISION FEATURE -
OUR JOCKEY KEVIN BOHORUN
We hope you tuned in and enjoyed the Feature on Kevin's up and coming career , I lost count of how many times we replayed it. Peter is very confident that with Kevin's attitude and dedication he will continue to rapidly improve. He had another FIRST in Geraldton and two Fourths, a THIRD at Ascot and in Northam 3 rides with a 4th,5th and 6th placement. Great riding Kevin and keep it going.

MONDAY TRIALS
AMELIAS GLORY - FIRST - very pleased with the result
MASTER SECRET - FOURTH - showing promise and should Debut Saturday week, we will keep you posted.

HIFALUTIN - KEEP AN EYE OUT
Lou has reported that he is exceptionally pleased with the horse and very much looking forward to giving it a start in about 2 weeks.

Morphetville South Australia
2 Progeny's of BARELY A MOMENT started on Saturday, one of them winning by 3-4 lengths. Peter was pleased to see the good stock is continuing.

AMELIA PARK
On Friday our Breeding Guru for Amelia Park, Brian Bradley paid a visit and enjoyed a weekend beginning with inspecting and spending time with the horses followed by wine tasting at the Cellar on Friday, up very early to watch the trackwork and then the Cox Plate on Saturday. Peter always enjoys Brian's company and its usually followed by a quiet day on his departure but Peter had friends from Denmark arrive and so it was off wining and dining for Sunday lunch. I don't know how Peter keeps it up!

MELBOURNE CUP WEEK
The late tickets have been purchased and Peter leaves Friday. REPRISAL by all accounts should be running on Saturday at FLEMINGTON IN RACE 8 under David Hayes. The horse has conducted itself well and Peter believes a bet will be in order.
EUROPA POINT is listed for a race on Melbourne Cup Day or Oaks Day on Thursday depending on the draw.

Both horses are in very good company so it will be thrilling racing ahead and the staff at Amelia Park wish Peter all the luck and wish we were there to share in the excitement.

HAPPY RACING TO ALL.

SYDNEY PREMIERE

Welcome all, hope you enjoyed your week, don't you find the weeks are just flying by!

SYDNEY
FILM PREMIERE OF MAO'S LAST DANCER
Peter was honoured by being invited by Li Cunxin (The Author) to last nights Premiere. Peter commented that the Film is sensational, both teary at times as well as being humorous. I'm sure most people have read this Book and Peter Highly Recommends a viewing. Peter and Annie enjoyed catching up again with Li and meeting his Mother who has just arrived from China for this special event. The Film will be released on 1st October. I for one will be looking forward to its release, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Li told Peter that he will again be visiting Amelia Park next year, on his last visit Peter had a cocktail party for him and we were privileged to meet and talk with him, his wife and children. A very interesting man to talk to and listen to his background so we will be looking forward to that visit.

Coolmoore
Peter will now travel to Coolmoore with Brian Bradley for a few days for an inspection of the Mares and new Foals and catching up on all the Breeding News. Peter said that Fastnet Rock is doing all the right things here.

REPRISAL - SOUTH AUSTRALIA

WEATHER CHANGING (APPARENTLY)
It looks like we might all be enjoying some fine weather for this coming Long Weekend which will be gladly received.

ARRIVED AND DEPARTED

Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks news and happenings.

Peter has arrived home from Kuala Lumpur and I have had to tie him down for the latest news as he departs again tonight for Bali for a few days, back and then off to Sydney. I'm glad I don't pack and unpack his suitcases.

THIS WEEK
Saturday Racing - Bells Away will give its all.

QUIET TIMES ARE A CHANGING
I think we have all had enough including the horses so they are gearing up for a return to racing in the next couple of weeks. We will see at the track, to name a few, AMELIAS LAD, LADY XAAR, DIVINE ANNA and ALMOHAD so I will keep your informed of the dates and with the weather turning (apparently) more people will be out and about at the race track.

OAKLAND PARK STUD
We welcome another baby FILLY from Steamy Affair. It is a wonderful sight to see the babies take hold of their new life.

RETIRED
PRINCESS AMELIA has retired and been sent to Lindsay Park Stud in South Australia to be mated with Barely a Moment. We wish the Princess happy times ahead at the Stud.

AMELIA PARK
All the horses are in their element with the beautiful green pastures, I believe you can actually see them flourishing.
It is with sadness we farewell Thresia who returned with Peter to Bali. Her month here has really flown by and we will miss her antics.
THE CELLAR had a late night on Saturday where Peter entertained a friend from London and they overdid the tastings, needless to say a very quiet Sunday was had.

Enjoy your week everyone and look forward to sharing news with you next week.

LOST COMMUNICATION

Hi to all, hope your keeping rugged up during this cold wet spell as we are endeavouring to do at Amelia Park.

As you know Peter is in Kuala Lumpur at the moment and unfortunately he is out of contact range so I will give you a short news update and when Peter returns he will inform us of the latest happenings.

BELMONT SATURDAY 5TH
BELLS AWAY - 3RD
Another good run, just missing the post. Keep up the good work Simon.

MORE BABIES ARRIVE
LINDSAY PARK, SOUTH AUSTRALIA
A Colt to Amelias Secret/Dillon Thomas

OAKLAND PARK, JINDONG
A Filly to Yoedeller/Holy Roman Emperor

The Staff visited the foal at Oakland Park which is located just down the road from Amelia Park and the girls said she is a beauty (in looks and we hope in her future racing career).

AMELIA PARK
It is very exciting for our Stable Hand Abbas who will be returning to India this weekend for a well earned 2 week vacation. His family are busy preparing for his return trip and I think a few late nights with story telling and photos will be had. We all wish Abbas a safe and enjoyable holiday and told him not to worry as we will save up as many jobs as we can for his return.

The best part about driving back to Amelia Park is watching the horses run along the fence line to greet you. What an exhilarating experience. I'm just about to go home and enjoy.

Have a great week and look forward to posting Peters report on his return.

A GREAT WEEK

Hello to everyone and welcome to this weeks news update.

NORTHAM 27/8
CASTLE BLITZ - 1ST
Well done Lou, it was a good win which we were hoping for and didn't disappoint. Keep it up Blitzy.
BELLS AWAY - 2ND
Close this week, ran a good race and looking forward to improving from 2nd to 1st.

BELMONT 29/8
DESROID Disappointing for the Owners, looks like a better Country runner at this stage.

THIS WEEK
PRINCESS AMELIA
Should have a run on Wednesday.

COMING UP IN ANOTHER 2-3 WEEKS
Quite a few of Peters horses will be ready and eager to go for the Spring Campaign so will be reporting shortly on the campaigns. Peter said the feed is superb for the horses this year, the best for quite a few years so that's got to be a big plus.

STAFF RACE DAY BELMONT
WHAT A GREAT DAY WAS HAD BY ALL
Peter as usual was the perfect host and we all thoroughly enjoyed his generosity. Peter commented that it is great to see everyone out of their work gear and dressed up, especially the ladies. I thought the men also came up a treat. The staff asked if I could send a big thank you to Peter - 'THANK YOU PETER'.
We were all booked in to the Duxton so after the Races we headed back to the bar and continued on, some of the crew then headed on again to the Irish Bar for dancing well into the night . It was a very quiet event at Breakfast for some, some didn't make it, and a long trip home to Amelia Park.

BACK TO BELMONT - SATURDAY 5TH
Peter will redo this all again this week. His Management will also be booked into the Duxton and together with 60 valued Customers he will treat them to a wonderful appreciation day at the Races which most people never get to experience. We are all the lucky ones.

KUALA LUMPUR - SUNDAY
I have reminded Peter it will have to be an early night Saturday as he flies out Sunday morning. It will be interesting to hear if he remembers the reminder!!!

SNEAK PREVIEW
A Container full of furniture arrived at Amelia Park on Friday. Peter cracked the lid on Sunday and I did sneak a look at its contents. There is a beautiful assortment of furniture for the Day Spa including massage tables, day beds, antique chairs - oops - not telling any more. You will have to wait for the Day Spa to be completed to see the end product. I think all will appreciate Peters selections.

BACK TO WORK
Yes its all over and we all fronted up today, really enthusiastic after such a great weekend!!! The horses and all the animals were pleased to see us home to return to tending to all their needs.

Have a great week and Peter will send his report from KL next week.

BELLS AWAY - After 2nd last week, Simon Miller is confident with this distance and looking forward to another top spot.

Still quiet on the track with all the horses either coming in for Training or already going through their preparations for the coming campaigns. We are looking forward to the next couple of months to see some action.

ANOTHER BABY ARRIVES

COOLMORE - BORN 20TH AUGUST 2009 - A COLT - SECRET VAULT (TRIFECTA WINNER) / ORATORIO (IRE)
Out of WINNING STOCK, another one to watch mature and be a WINNER.

With all the new babies we will begin our guessing game of which one will be a CHAMPION,OR ALL - IF ONLY.

STAFF DAY AT THE RACES
Peter is kindly treating all the staff to a day at the Races this Saturday, so all tools down and party time to follow at the Duxton where Peter has us booked into. The good clothes will come out for an airing. We all look forward to seeing Wanga after hopefully his last operation, he has certainly been through the wars this year. We hope you recover quickly Wanga and Peter wanted to know why they didn't fix some of the brain cells while he was under!!!!!!

AMELIA PARK
MOVING DAY
Annie and family have now settled comfortably into their new home, it was all go on the weekend with not only unpacking but also introducing Daisy the guinea pig to her new surroundings.
Annie's Mum can't wait to start planting all the wonderful array of vegetables in the designer style garden, that will supply the farm. We cant wait either!!
I think we will soon see a worn cattle track between the homes, just as well the track is well lit up for Peter.

Enjoy your week everyone, might see you at the Races.

LAST WEEKS PERFORMANCE

PRINCESS AMELIA - 8TH
She ran a good race but got blocked in so an unfortunate result.

NORTHAM 13/8
DESTROID 3RD
Was the favourite so disappointing to come 3rd.
CASTLE BLITZ 9TH
Not good enough in this race. Probably give 1 more run before making a decision on future.
BELLS AWAY 2ND
Very pleased with Bells run under Simon Millers preparation.

BELMONT 15/8
BLACK HABIT 6TH
Ran a tired race, coming home to Amelia Park for R & R and then prepare for next campaign.

THIS WEEK
DESTROID
Will be running in a 1300m race which should suit this horse.

UPDATE
AMELIAS DANCER -
Ran 4th in a Trial, still a while away yet but still growing and showing to be a big strong horse so will be looking forward to Amelias future racing.
REPRISAL & EUROPA POINT - EASTERN STATES
Currently in training and should be back on the track shortly, will keep you informed.
GAI WATERHOUSE
Has one of Peters fillys in work and should be ready in approximately 8 weeks, will also keep updating.

LADY SHERIFA - HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR - NEW BAY FILLY
Peter is thrilled that his FIRST FOAL was born on 15th August at Coolmore. She has come out of excellent top stock so it will be exciting to see this horse mature. Peter believes Holy Roman Emperor will certainly make his mark.
THE FIRST OF MANY FOALS TO COME

BACK FROM BALI
Peter has returned from a very relaxing stay and keeps commenting on the beautiful weather he has just left, but does admit how he enjoys coming home and seeing the lush green paddocks and the horses thriving. He enjoyed catching up with friends and spending time with family members under the magnificent Sunsets at Tanah Lot. Welcome to Thresia who has come back with Peter for a short stay at Amelia Park.

AMELIA PARK
Peter returned to a fantastic landscaping job and finishing touches done to the new home, under the guidance of Brett. Annie and family will be moving in this week and we hope they enjoy their new abode. The chickens will arrive shortly and the egg count competition will begin.

DAY SPA
Is progressing well and should be completed within 4 - 6 weeks just in time for Spring. We will be queueing up at the door.

FLORA & FAUNA
The leaves on our deciduous trees are starting to appear already in the anticipation of Spring sunshine but we hope we still have a few weeks of precipitation.
Our five new fowl have starting laying regularly, what a wonderful feeling to have released these day old chicks under a broody hen and now observe their beautiful foliage and their ability to pay their way on the farm.

Many thanks to Mason for his constant vigilance of fallen branches to keep our paddocks clean and safe for our livestock.

Look forward to reporting next week happenings to you all.

Shelley

GREETINGS FROM BALI

Hi everyone, hoping it has been a good week for all.

ENJOYABLE DINNER
Peter enjoyed dining with Lou last week before flying to Bali. Peter was bought up to date with the happenings and Lou reported all the Youngsters are getting fired up so hopefully we will enjoy some winners coming thru in their campaigns.

PRINCESS AMELIA - 2ND
Princess ran a good race at Belmont, we hope she continues on this path.

END TO A GOOD WEEK
Together with Princess it was a rewarding week with 4 Starters, bringing home 3 Seconds and 1 Third. LETS CONTINUE.

HOPEFUL STARTERS THIS WEEK:
DESTROID, BLACK HABIT, BELLS AWAY, PRINCESS AMELIA, CASTLE BLITZ.
We believe Black Habit to be the best pick.

FIRST OVERFLOW - PETERS DAM
FINALLY - Water is cascading from the spillway of our 2nd largest dam on the property. The Winter season for the past 4 years has slowly increased capacity of the dam until it can hold no more. Its full to the brim and joyful to see. It is also contributing to the flow of our beloved seasonal Creek.

DEADWOOD
The team have been busy clearing and cleaning up the banks so a danger free walk along the entire winding creek is now possible.

BALI
Peter is enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxing with his family members. He enjoyed catching up with his daughter Samantha's friend Claire who travelled with Sam thru North America. Peter had a great night hearing all the stories of her and Sam's escapades whilst travelling, maybe more stories told to her Dad than Sam would have revealed. Its good to have a few up your sleeve.

Bye for now and good racing results for all.

THE HORSES TAKE HEED

Hello everyone, welcome to our Weekly News.

THE HORSES TAKE HEED

After last weeks comments from Peter, the horses apparently took that on board and have stepped up and shown some good results this week past.

NORTHAM 30/7

DESTROID - 2ND
Good run for its 1st up start and looking forward to improving ratings.

TIME FOR BLACK - 3RD
Pleased with the race, 1st start for 12 months so should improve with more racing ahead.

BELMONT 1/8
BLACK HABIT - 2ND
This horse continues to give its best.

BELMONT 5/8
PRINCESS AMELIA
Has been accepted for Race 7, Princess is not showing much at the moment but will continue to monitor her.

KEVIN VISITS HOME
It was great to catch up with Kevin over the weekend. He now has a car so can make more regular trips back to Amelia Park to fit in with his rewarding busy schedule. He is thoroughly enjoying his Jockey Apprenticeship and it wont be long now before he starts in the big league.

BALI
Another relaxing trip for Peter to his second home. He will be joined by members of the Walsh family so I know Uncle Peter will enjoy playing in the pool with his nephews.
Glenn has seen my shopping list and said I had to cull it but I will sneak it to Annie who Im sure wont mind shopping for those few little extras.

AMELIA PARK
All the youngsters are being moved in and out of the stables to get them used to the routine. Spring is on the way so it will certainly be getting busier for the staff as they will soon have some new foals to look after as well.

SUNDAY
Peter and Annie spent a very relaxing day in 'Arthur', being chauffer driven around the Wineries and stopping at Lamonts for luch. Peter was then invited to Eagle Bay where his good friends Wally and Robyn (Syndicate Members) showed him around their newly acquired beautiful home. Peter said the home is located in a superb spot and their Sundowner continued on well after sundown.

DINNER WITH LOU
Peter is looking forward to catching up with Lou on Thursday. They will discuss the present and future and plan their movements for the oncoming Season.

A good week to all and Peter will report from Bali next week.

AMELIA PARKS FLOWING CREEK

Hi everyone, another week has flown by and we are nearing the end of another month.

I have talked enough about our Winter Creek which prompted me to share a photo with you. You cant believe that in a few months it will be a dry bed again so we, the dogs and bird life are taking advantage of it.

A WEEK TO FORGET

Peter would like to put this disappointing week of racing behind him and hope that future racing will be more successful.

CASTLE BLITZ

Very disappointed with the run. Lou was also confident Blitz would put in a good performance but not to be.

PRINCESS AMELIA

A very ordinary race from Princess, Peter will persevere on maybe another run and then make some decisions on the horses future.

BELLS AWAY

Had its 1st up run in some 14 months but managed only an 8th. the jury is out and hopefully will show something after another run or 2.

KEVIN SHINES AGAIN

What a rewarding day of riding for Kevin . He took home two 1sts and a 2nd at Monday Trials. He really is giving it his all for his riding future. We will celebrate when Kevin comes home to Amelia Park within the next 2 weeks.

RAINFALL

Reports are flooding in of water levels not been seen in the district for many years and we are pleased to report that our reservoirs at Amelia Park are either full or better than previous catchments. This will ensure that our pastures will be lush and succulent for the oncoming spring season where the plentiful nutrients will be beneficial to our beautiful brood mares and agisted racehorses. Considerable labour, thought and knowledge of our paddocks has ensured the appropriate fertilisers and supplements have been broadcast over the property. The staff are suitably excited about the germination of new seed at Amelia Park.

TRAVELLING IN STYLE

Our resident Chauffeur Glenn had the enjoyment of taking possession of Peters latest acquisition - the Amelia Park Stretch Limousine - affectionately named 'ARTHUR' yesterday from Perth. On the maiden voyage Arthur and Glenn came to the rescue of 2 Swedish backpackers unsuitably dressed for our cold winters day. They were most grateful for the ride in the warm coach and enjoyed the complimentary champagne on their trip to Albany. They were delighted with the fresh marron, local cheeses and fruits that the southwest of Australia has to offer. Unfortunately the champagne bottle used to launch Arthur has damaged several panels on the vehicle and therefore Arthur will be heading back to Perth for panel and paint work . The cost of fuel and repairs was offset by the fact that Arthur and Glenn's photo will be published in Swedish Backpackers Monthly, November edition. Good luck Ursula and Britt.

ORCHARD

Brett has pruned all the fruit trees in readiness for the forthcoming budding of these beautiful healthy trees. Talk of a Harvest Festival is in the air and has excited both locals and tourists alike. We will be looking forward to that one.

Bye for now and have an enjoyable week everyone.

regards

Shelley

WET WET WET

Welcome, we hope everyone is getting all this beautiful rain.

DISAPPOINTING WEEK ALL ROUND
DESTROID
Unfortunately was scratched at the barrier, so we can only wait for another day.

BLACK HABIT
No excuses, the question is WHY WHY!!

AMELIAS 1/2 BROTHER - BARELY A MOMENT / TYCOON MISS
Sadly this horse collapsed and passed away this week. Condolences to the Owners.

A BETTER WEEK TO FOLLOW
CASTLE BLITZ will run at Belmont on Wednesday in Barrier 1 so we are confident of a good run.

PRINCESS AMELIA is returning for its 1st up run at Northam and will be watched closely.

CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN
Peter is thrilled with Kevins fantastic trialling last week. He took home a 1st, 2nd and 3rd and now has approximately 10 trials to run and then will begin his career in Racing under Peter Walsh. We are all extremely confident Kevin is going to succeed in his field under the watchful eye of Lou and Peter and we look forward to watching Kevin riding Winners in Amelia Park colours.

AMELIA PARK
It was a busy week for Peter entertaining with firstly friends from South Africa on Tuesday evening which was supposed to be a quiet night leading up to Rob & Phil's visit on Wednesday. Yes you guessed, it wasn't, but Peter come through and entertained with extra visitor Ken Whittaker who is a great mate of Peters and supporter of Amelia Park. Peter commented that he is glad he never had to play on Phil Matera as the more the night wore on and the more reds he consumed, the more faster he moved and talked. They all had a great night and early morning of stories and reds and laughter.

WILD & WOOLLY CONDITIONS
It really has been a rough winter this year but we can't complain as the paddocks are loving it and the creek is breaking its banks. Pictures next week, the camera died.
The staff have been extremely busy with shifting horses around as a lot of areas in the paddocks are holding water. The ducks and birds are having a ball.

TANAH LOT BALI - LUCKY SAM
Peter reported that Sam Hays is off on holiday to Bali next week. Not only will he enjoy beautiful Tanah Lot, he will also have the company of a French Film Company and their MODELS for a day. Tanah Lot was chosen for a SPECIAL FEATURE ON LUXURY LIVING IN INDONESIA which Peter is thrilled about and to Sam we say - LUCKY YOU & ENJOY!!!!
We will look forward to viewing the Feature when it is released.

Well I'm off to light the fire so all enjoy your week and happy punting.

GOOD TRIAL RESULTS

Hi everyone, we hope you enjoyed the weekend where ever you were, it was a fine weekend in Busselton.

This Weeks Report:

BLACK HABIT - 3RD
Peter was very happy with this run and will follow up with another run this week. The horse seems to do well when butting up with runs so we look forward to more good results.

GOOD TRIAL RESULTS

CASTLE BLITZ - 1ST
Excellent run 1st up and this horse is definitely the one to watch in future races.

DESTROID - 3RD
Very pleased with this result. Off to Northam for its maiden race, the length is a bit short but will be watched closely.

PRINCESS AMELIA - 7TH
Not there at the end but worked very well and will improve with more experience in upcoming races.

GOOD BREEDING
It was great to see MEGA STEEL win on Saturday at Belmont. Peter is part Owner of its Mare and looks like being a top horse in the future.
SINGAPORE DERBY - JABAL TARIK
Another well bred horse out of Marooned Lady raced home with 4th in this Group 1 Race.

SECOND HOME
Another visit by Rob Wylie on Wednesday. Peter is looking forward to sharing his fine Reds with Rob and Visitor Phil Matera at the Cellar. With 3 Football Past Players I am sure there will be alot of footy nonsense talk throughout the day and long into the evening . Glenn will have to keep all the birds screeching to a MAXIMUM- SORRY I mean MINIMUM on Thursday morning.

WELCOME BACK KRISTY
We all look forward to seeing Kristy return in the middle of this week and I am sure of being envious hearing about her summer holiday in Broome. We are also looking forward to our presents!!

LANDSCAPING CONTINUES
Brett has now moved on from the Cellar to work his magic again at Annie's new home complete with chook pen and vegetable gardens. It will be a race each day to see how many eggs they produce compared to our existing pen. Each egg will be weighed and any imperfections noted. We already have our vegetable basket at the ready, a bit eager but I want to make sure we have first pick before they go to market.

COMPLIMENTS TO BRETT
I must pass on to Brett Walsh how beautiful the Cellar landscaping looks, a group of friends visiting on the weekend were most impressed and send their compliments. WELL DONE!

That's all the news for the week so everyone enjoy and have a good racing weekend.

Shelley

QUIET ON THE HOMEFRONT

Hello again, July is one of those months, both weather wise and horse wise - wet and quiet!

BLACK HABIT
Should be running this week and Peter is looking forward to a good result after coming third in its 1st up run. Show us what you can do Black Habit.

TRIALLING
A busy week for Lou with PRINCESS AMELIA, DESTROID and CASTLE BLITZ which after their hopefully successful trials this week will put them on their way for positive results in their campaigns.

BELLS AWAY
Is also trialling this week and best of luck to Simon Miller. Peter acknowledges the good work Simon is doing with this and other horses as well as the great support to Amelia Park with the large number of horses that Simon has agisted there. Its great to see him and his wife having success.

FOALS
Whilst the racing side of things is quiet Peter is looking forward to the birth of several foals in the following weeks.

BACK FROM CHINA
Peter arrived back late last week from his favourite Country (besides Australia) and was chuffed with the creek and dams filling up. He has returned all fired up with a lot of new ideas so we look forward to hearing about the next phase for Amelia Park. He's not sure if he preferred the heat in China or the cold wet weather here!

CELLAR COMPLETED
The new Cellar and Landscaping is now complete, just some small touches to finish off. It looks quite stunning and we will put some photos on the website for viewing. Brett has done a wonderful job with the landscaping, statues and water features to compliment the Cellar. This probably means a few night trips to savour some of Peters best reds which is perfect for this weather. Glenn has installed pathway lights to the Cellar for easy access for everyone on the homeward walk.

AMELIA PARK

LUCKY KRISTY
We really do wish Kristy a happy holiday in sunny BROOME this coming week . Our Stable Manager is off on a well deserved break - so enjoy!!

WALPOLE
Neil & Denise Henche took advantage of the weather and took our Stable Hands - Abass and Amless to Walpole for the weekend. It was great to see the boys being shown some of our lovely country. I will find out this week if they caught any fish - but will have to see the photos!!!!!!

We all enjoyed a beautiful sunny weekend here but how quickly it changes. Back to wet and windy and clearing up fallen trees and debris.

Until next week - enjoy !

Shelley

GREETINGS FROM CHINA

Hello everyone, I wont tell you how hot Peter is in China while we are rugged up to the nines here - WHATS WORSE!!!!!!!

BLACK HABIT - 3rd
An impressive 1st up run to come third. Peter was very happy with this performance and is looking for bigger and better results in this campaign.

HIFALUTIN - Coming Home
Peter is bringing Hifaultin home to Amelia Park for a spell. Not quite up to standard so we will keep the horse in WA and hopefully show rewards in its own class.

TOTAL MAROONED
Another disappointing run. Peter will speak to Lou on his return but he thinks it was the horses last chance to perform.

Peter will now wait until he returns and touch base with Lou for a report on all the happenings and coming events on the horse front and will report in next weeks NEWS.

CHINA
While trying to keep COOL Peter still managed to get around to shop for furniture and antiques for the Day Spa which should arrive by the end of August.

Peter caught up with Neil Jackson from Jacksons Restaurant who is over there getting ideas for the restaurant and also Grant our Landscaper was there shopping for the Gallery and keeping up to date with new Landscaping designs. I didn't ask how many mornings of sore heads there were!

AMELIA PARK
The staff have been busy picking up all the fallen branches in the paddocks from the strong blustery conditions. They ensure the horses are not caused any added trauma or injuries.

Its sad to see the beautiful trees destroyed by the winds, especially when you have watched them grow over the years. As Glenn always says, unfortunately - ITS NATURES WAY. He now has a few days of mending the fences and hauling away the fallen trees. On a good note,
I can't wait for Peter to see the creek, only a couple of weeks ago it was bone dry and now its breaking its banks and the dams are filling up rapidly. The wildlife are certainly enjoying this plentiful season.

Well folks, keep warm and cosy.

regards
Shelley

LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL RAIN

Hello to another week, we hope all is well with everyone everywhere.

QUIET ON THE TRACK
It will be another few quiet weeks before we start seeing some return to racing. Hi Falutin didn't get a start as the track was to wet, which doesn't suit this horse so Lou will wait for another finer day.

SINGAPORE - JABAL TARIK
Peter was thrilled with the race, 2nd in a Group 2 race and it now looks certain to be heading towards the Group 1 Derby Day on 12th July.

CONGRATULATIONS
Peter sends all his best to ADRIAN HARROD on his horse winning a mighty race in Newcastle. We believe the win paid an excellent $58 (approx) so what a great day for Adrian, and well deserved.

COOLMORE
Peter O'Brien reported that 5 of Peters Brood Mares arrived safely and complimented Peter on the magnificent condition the horses are in. Peter was chuffed with those comments and gives full credit to the staff for their attention and detail and Abbas who monitors their correct feeding.

A BIG THANKYOU
Goes to Rob Wiley and Geoff Marsh for a most enjoyable evening at the Cellar. Peter said it was one of those nights where there was LOTS of fine reds and laughs as Swampy related many funny stories throughout his cricket career. Peter was very very quiet the next day so we kept the tractors, mowers and machinery running to a minimum.

CHINA
Another business trip for Peter on Tuesday so I will get a report from Beijing with all the happenings over there. Tonight he will be treated to a fine Indian Curry with compliments from Abbas at the farm. Watch out for the chillies Peter.

LOTS OF RAIN
What a day on Saturday, we had a time of it with rain, hail, strong winds and thunder. All the birds and animals went into hiding. The best part to see was the creek running at last.

I look forward to sending Peters report next week from China.

regards

Shelley

15th June 2009

Hello again, I hope you are all keeping warm, as we are with these very fresh mornings, still not a great deal of rain but hear it is returning this week which will be welcome.

QUIET
All quiet on the home front, it will be quiet in horse racing for another month or so as the horses are either resting or pre-training and at Lou's preparing for their next campaigns. This time gives everyone some breathing space and lots of stable cleaning and maintenance.

LOU'S VISIT
We enjoyed Lou's visit to Amelia Park as it gives a chance for Lou to see first hand how the horses and pre-training are progressing. Lou was pleased in all stages of the horses movements and Peter gave credit to all staff for the state of the stables, paddocks and overall appearance of Amelia Park, seeing we have had the worst drought in 100 years, all is looking good.

Peter also gave thanks to Lou for his input in configuring the type of Stallions to send Peter's Mares to for the new season. It has been exciting for Peter and Brian matching some of the top Stallions. To name a few :-

HENRYTHENAVIGATOR
DEHERE
DUKE OF MARMADLADE
FASTNET ROCK
STARCRAFT
VISCOUNT

JUNE BIRTHDAY
We all send Brett Walsh Birthday Wishes for this Wednesday. Instead of working from dawn to dusk landscaping at the Cellar, I am sure Brett will be sneaking off a bit earlier for the arranged drinks to help him celebrate. I will be checking the start time on Thursday, then again I will be celebrating with him - so perhaps not!!

THIS TIME AT CELLAR
Peter is looking forward to Thursday where he will be sharing some of his finest reds with Rob Wiley & Geoff Marsh. They have recently been in quarantine as a precaution because of being in contact with someone with suspected swine flu so I know they will be looking forward to getting down south for a break. I think the Cellar lights will be burning late that night.

HONG KONG
Peter was ecstatic with Galant Lions run in the Premiers Cup in Hong Kong. Although not a winner it was a fantastic race which followed from the Group 3 win a couple of weeks ago. Well done Lock the Vault (as we all know him).

DAY SPA & GYM
This addition to Amelia Park is progressing well. Peter has now selected the steam Sauna, Spa, Gym equipment and furniture. We are all anticipating the final product at the end of August.

CHINA
Peter is off again. He will be visiting China next week on a business trip so will be reporting to me from Beijing. Another shopping list coming up!!

FLORA & FAUNA
Under the close supervision of Peter, the tri-annual clearing and burning of our creek beds revealed a very pleasant surprise. A Quinda was gently flushed from its hideaway amongst the scrub. This endangered species was unaware to us of being a resident in our ever progressing micro climate. We would hope that this was not an isolated siting of a most beautiful gentle marsupial.
BIRDS OF PREY - a pair of mature magnificent Wedge Tail Eagles soured above the training track early on Friday morning. The clear sky and morning sunlight truly reflected the brilliant outline of the enormous wingspan of Australia's largest raptor. Again, WE WELCOME ALL VISITORS to Amelia Park.

Our very best wishes go out to Mason on a speedy recovery from his illness. Get well soon Doctor - Regards Glenn.

Enjoy your week everyone.

Regards

Shelley

WELCOME

Hello and welcome to another week of news.

AMELIAS REASON
Poor Lou's head, with all the scratching that's been done recently, he has decided to give both himself and the horse a break. Amelias Reason will be sent home to Amelia Park and hopefully have a resurgence for the next campaign. We are sure there are more wins to come.

TOTAL MAROONED
Was beaten in a better class in this race but pulled up well so Lou will look to starting the horse in a few more races in the following weeks.

SINGAPORE
Peter reported that JABAL TARIK - out of Marooned Lady, won on Saturday in record time and hopefully will be a starter in the Singapore Derby. Looks like another trip to Singapore soon - I thought I would suggest that Peter takes me too so he doesn't have to worry with my shopping list!

ALEVANTA
Gaye Waterhouse reported that this horse will trial again after coming 2nd in its first trial and is looking good for future races. Keep an eye on this horse. Peter has also just acquired a filly with Gaye so he is looking forward to her future.

AMELIA PARK
The horses that are currently in work will be returned to Lou in preparation for their campaigns.
Lou will be visiting the farm and looking forward to his expertise and company for a day or two.

Brood Mares - An exciting time as the Stallion Season approaches. Brian Bradley has been using his expertise in picking out suitable Stallions.

DISAPPOINTMENT
Peter was looking forward to entertaining Rob Wiley & Geoff Marsh at the Cellar tonight with a good steak and numerous Reds. Unfortunately they were in contact with someone who has tested positive with Swine Flu so they have to keep indoors for 3 days. All the best to Rob & Geoff and the Reds will wait.

All else is good at Amelia Park, green everywhere you look, the horses are in their element, the only downfall with winter is the amount of dropped leaves - EVERYWHERE, lots of raking to keep us busy.

Until next week

regards

Shelley

WHATS THE REASON AMELIA?

Hi everyone and welcome to the news update.

AMELIAS REASON
Lou is asking the same question and scratching his head!
Very disappointing even though the race was fast, the other 5 were faster. Must forge ahead with more races and hope it wasn't a 1 win wonder in this campaign.

HIFALUTIN
Unfortunately had to be scratched after hitting its head on the float on the way to the races. Is bouncing back and preparing for the next race.

TOTAL MAROONED
Has been listed as an emergency for Wednesday 3rd June, but hopefully will get a start - good luck.

GALILLEOS WINS X 4
Peter was excited to see these horses wins around Australia and also doing well overseas. Peter has backed this Bloodline and invested in a number of horses so he is looking forward to exciting times ahead with the progeny's.

MEGA STEEL Win in WA
It was great to see this win as Peter has shares with Sam Hayes and Darren Thomas in the Mare - Cabernet Queen. It has come out of good stock and good luck in the future.

SINGAPORE
Peter has returned refreshed from a few days away and said he thoroughly enjoyed his day at the Races. Percy was an excellent host and they carried on well into the night. Peter was very impressed with the Track and Facilities there and commented that with the huge crowd they are very well catered for and the Owners looked after first class.

AMELIA PARK
All the work of fertilising and seeding has paid off, together with the rain and sunshine the paddocks are coming through exceptionally green. We now need more rain to make the creek run and we are then complete.

THE AVIARY
The birds performed for some visitors from America during the week. The Manufacturers of the horse rail fencing came and were shown over the property. Many photos were taken and they were very impressed with the surrounds that make Amelia Park.

Regards to all and enjoy your week.

THE RAIN HAS ARRIVED

Hello again, the long awaited rains arrived, with a blast. What an introduction to our Winter, the rain was certainly a welcome sight but we didn't enjoy the blustery conditions.

AMELIAS REASON

Should be having a run this week and certainly looking forward to duplicating the last win. Good luck Syndicate Owners.

HIFALUTIN

Hopefully will get a start but will let you know towards the end of the week.

Another quiet week in the racing world for Amelia Park.

The staff had a busy week, mostly cleaning up after the blow, a large tree fell damaging a paddocks fence but luckily there were no horses agisting there.

SINGAPORE

Peter and Annie are off on Thursday for a few days and have been invited to the Races by Percy, Peters friend and co-owner in a horse. Peter is certainly looking forward to that day and catching up with Percy.

I have given Peter my shopping list so will look forward to his return with parcels in tow.

RIVENDELL WINERY & RESTAURANT

We are certainly lucky having places like this to visit in our region. We had an enjoyable lunch at this popular venue yesterday with Peters family and a few returned to the Tavern for those extra needed wines. It capped off a great day.

All is in good order here and we can see the start of GREEN showing through in our paddocks.
WINTER IS A BEAUTIFUL TIME AT AMELIA PARK

Everyone enjoy your week and look forward to reporting next time.

regards

Shelley

THE AVIARY

Hello everyone, we hope this week finds everyone well and still enjoying this beautiful weather.

It is a quiet week of racing for Amelia Park so just an update for you.

AMELIAS REASON

Lou has decided to wait another couple of weeks for the next run and is aiming for the ROMA CUP DAY so we will keep you informed in the next week.

HIFALUTIN

Looking forward to hearing from Haysey when the next start will be.

YEARLINGS

Exciting to see the yearlings being brought into the stables for a month at a time to strengthen and educate them since returning from the breakers, then return to the paddocks for resting. The staff said they are enjoying working with the younguns.

CONGRATULATIONS

Kevin has now become a permanent Resident and therefore has commenced his full time Jockey Apprenticeship for Amelia Park. In time he will be moved to Lous stables for further training. Welcome aboard Kevin and we know you will succeed in this chosen field.

BACK TO WORK

We welcome back Brett and Tegan from their well earned rest in Bali. As they say - it goes to quick - but they had a wonderful time at Tanah Lot and a few amazing sunsets were enjoyed, along with the massages, spas and excellent pampering from the staff.

WALPOLE WEEKEND

Peter thoroughly enjoyed his weekend and thanks Neil and Denise for their great hospitality and introducing him to their beautiful Walpole hideaway. Before Denise, Annie and the girls arrived, Neil took Peter for a few quiet ones at the local and needless to say, met the locals and in his usual way made a lot of new friends who delivered fresh honey and fish the next morning. It turned into a 2am departure, they certainly made themselves right at home with the friendly locals. Peter said it reminded him of the old days in Margaret River with the friendly good old fashioned small township. Neil & Denise have done themselves proud with their comfortable home and Peter looks forward to the next invitation.

GOLF DRIVING RANGE

"Wait for news to follow"

THE AVIARY

As it is the quiet time with the horses Peter thought this weeks news centred on the beautiful Aviary at Amelia Park and the visitors it attracts.

Peters very good friends, Brian Bradley and Barbara Barclay had a great weekend with Peter. Brian rates as the Most Successful Breeder in WA for our Amelia Park stars and he spends a lot of time visiting Amelia Park.

Glenn was thrilled when Barbara asked to enter the flights, which is very unusual, as most people visiting prefer to stay at the front of the flights and admire the birds. Her beauty and gentle charm won over some of our more difficult birds in a way that is very rare to see. The way the birds warmed to her was as if she had known these birds for a long period of time. The day was finished with a glass of red overlooking the beautiful gardens at the Aviary.
