Another Busy Week

Hello everyone, hope you all had a great week and weekend and report on happenings in the past week and coming up events.

SATURDAY 28TH MARCH

AMELIAS REASON - Again, very disappointing run. Lou is still pulling his hair out, the horse has been changed in several ways but doesn't seem to want to run on. Lou will be reporting to Syndicate Owners with his views and suggestions.

ALMOHAD - SECOND

The horse had a great run and very pleased with result for the upcoming Derby. Phenomenen will be the won to beat but Almohad will be cheered on by Peter, Annie, Tegan and the girls who will be in the front row cheering seats.

BLACK HABIT - 5TH The horse had a good run, not at the post, but looking for improvement in future races. Aiming for the V & V Walsh Day on the 18th in the Fillies & Mares race so that will be exciting being there to watch.

THIS WEEKS RACING

SYDNEY TUESDAY

DIVINE ANA - gutsy Filly went 2nd and 3rd in her first runs and has been stepped up to 1600m. Gaye believes the horse will perform better with a longer run. Good luck today.

EUROPA POINT

This horse has come from good breeding, is a half brother to King Canute, Gambei so will be exciting to see if the winning streak continues on. Has won its trial and has been nominated in three places at Moonee Valley, Morphetville and Cranbourne. Lee Friedman will look at all fields and select the best suited for this horse. Looking forward to this run. Peter and Brian Bradley will head off this weekend to watch the Debut of this Filly's career.

REPRISAL - Is gearing up for the Pt. Adelaide Guineas and hopefully heading for the South Australian Derby. Very excited with this horse.

AMELIAS LAD - Is a 90% goer for Saturday. Ran a gutsy previous race from last to finish 4th. A lot more to come from this well bred Lad.

HIFALUTIN - Should be running on the weekend but will let you know on Friday.

SYDNEY EASTER SALES - Coolmore has prepared this Rock of Gibraltar Colt for the Sales. With the current climate we have to be realistic but if not successful Peter will look at future racing.

AMELIA PARK

NIGHT UNDER THE STARS - Another winner for Peter. A great night was had under the stars, the weather held off (as usual for Peters nights) and the dancing certainly kept you warm. A huge heartfelt thankyou to Tony and his band LITTLE SISTER, what great entertainment they donated for the night. Adrian did a great job organising this which Peter very much appreciated. We recommend anyone looking for variety to keep them in mind for your next function. As is usual now, Peter was the last man standing. He said since his offsider Glenny has handed him the job of turning off all the lights (Glenny cant do the distance with Peter alot of the time - which I think is a good thing), Peter was still looking at the stars on the amphitheatre lawn long long after the show was over.
Glenny reported that all the Birds behaved beautifully at the Aviary as Glenny introduced them to guests on the night prior to the Band playing.

STABLES - The horses have had a lovely break in the paddocks over the last week or so. The Staff have been busy emptying the stables of used sand, have been sprayed and all new fresh sand spread. Within the next week all the stables will be full again and back into PreTraining - the holiday is over.

ANOTHER ACTIVITY AT AMELIA PARK
Full preparations are underway for the installation of a GOLF DRIVING RANGE at the Farm. This will be yet another feather in Peters cap for his ongoing dream. It will get to the stage that we will have to fit work in after the Golf, Tennis, Day Spa etc.

I hope everyone has a great week and will give an update of Racing on Friday.

Happy weekend of racing to all.

HAPPY DEBUT

Welcome to the weekly news.

Saturday

Amelias Lad - Happy Debut

Peter , Annie and Rob Wiley were very happy with the lads run, he came home well and showed a lot of promise for distance in future races. He will have a short stint with Lou and then come home to rest and hopefully have an exciting campaign as a 3 year old.

Sunday

Toledo Express

Came home with a 3rd which was disappointing as got held up and just got pipped for 2nd. Looking forward to future races. Keep an eye as this horse should improve.

Wednesday

Outside Influence - This horse is a great battler.

Saturday - Ascot 28th March

Black Habit - should be ready for this race.

Amelias Reason - Lou has changed a few things with this horse so will be interesting to see the performance. Has been nominated but will let you know on Friday.

Almohad - Should run a tidy race and would be a Special Bet for the day.

AMELIA PARK

Saturday 28th March - Night Under the Stars

Peter is looking forward to welcoming all Amelia Park Members and Guests for what should be a great night. DON'T FORGET THE BOTTLE OPENER AND GLASS and the Dancing Shoes.

See you there!

Wine Tagging at the Cellar

Peter sends a huge thanks to David & Jean Law of Perth for their kind help on Sunday. They did make huge progress with the tagging of the wines NOT TO MENTION the trying of several. We just have to make sure Peter stops trying all the ones that need to sit a while as he gets very excited when entertaining guests.

Member of the WC Eagles - Adam Selwood and his girlfriend Chloe visited the farm on the weekend as he and a group from the Team are in with one of the horses here. A great day was had and he looks forward to coming back soon.

V & V WALSH DAY - APRIL
This Annual event made possible by the Walsh Family is a great weekend of celebration and racing for his Management team at V & V Walsh, his family and close friends. Peter hopes there will be some of our horses racing on this weekend.

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED
www.tanahlotvilla.com
Peter and his staff in Bali are very proud of the launching of the website, I have started enquiries for my holiday over there. Just have to tell Glenn & Peter I will be going there indefinitely, it looks absolutely inviting, make sure you visit the site for your next relaxing holiday.

Flora & Fauna
Barnyard Day Celebrations - Day old chickens were introduced to a very special brooding hen. Our day by day observations absolutely thrilled us to share the joy and love of a new Mother fussing over her new brood. What a wonderful experience.

Till Friday, my best to all

Kind regards

Friday Broadcast

Hi Everyone, just to let you know the end of week happenings.

Saturday Ascot
Amelias Lad - DEBUT
We are looking forward to this horse starting its campaign. We believe the horse is suited to a longer distance so Peter, Annie & Rob Wiley will be keen to see the horse perform. Keep an eye on the Lad for the future.

Melbourne
Hifalutin - has been scratched due to a small infection but should be right for next week.

Lots of Horse Racing to come
Peter is looking forward to the following months of racing with a number of runners coming thru and he would love to see some WINNERS IN THE NOT TO DISTANT FUTURE.

Thursday Amelia Park
Peter enjoyed entertaining the Managers of Darley Stud and showing them Amelia Park. As usual Peter and the weather turned it on and a few beers and horse talk made the night complete. They were very impressed with the Park and have returned the invitation to Peter who will look forward to a trip to their Stud.

Sunday - Wine Tagging
Peter and his good friend David Law will be at the new Cellar on Sunday, supposedly tagging the many hundreds of bottles Peter has accumulated. I will be dropping up there later in the day to see their progress and taking a tally of tagging against trying and will report next week.
Peter's son Brett is doing a wonderful job of the Landscaping at the Cellar, it is really taking shape on a large scale.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and look forward to reporting next week.

News for the Week

Welcome all,

Horse Racing Results

Saturday

Amelias Reason - No Spark. There will be a change in routine to see if the staff can get this horse some new spark and get back on track.

Almohad - ran an encouraging race to finish 4th, will need to continue improving to raise stake money to get a start in the Derby.

Sunday

Outside Influence - ran a solid 3rd, will hopefully keep paying his way in upcoming race outings.

Black Habit - Came home with a 3rd and would like a few more encouraging runs before spelling and will return for the winter campaign.

This Week - Toledo Express should be running, I will report on Friday but keep an eye as should give a good run.

Adelaide Horse Sales

Peter did sell at the Sales, the market is down at the moment but got as best result as estimated.

Amelia Park

Darley Stud - New South Wales - the Managers will be in WA this week and have asked Peter for a tour of Amelia Park. Peter of course will wine and dine them in is customary entertaining way.

Under the Stars on the 28th - Peter has kindly invited clients and Syndicate Members to a night of entertainment. All those coming please pack your picnic basket, chair and esky to what I am sure will be a night to remember.

Flora & Fauna

Our dams are proving a sanctuary for the south west ducks. At this time of the year the water courses are drying up and we have many types, including mountain, mane and black ducks to name a few frequenting our dams.

A beautiful pair of Herons have taken up residence in the Aviary lake and are a lovely addition to the Park.

SCARLET MACAW - what an exciting day yesterday. Glenn introduced Juanita , our new baby Macaw to her residence at the Aviary. She will be a partner for our young male Pedro and Glenn is beaming as this now makes the Aviary complete, until of course Peter asks Glenn for some new blood on the block.

Celebration of our new Macaw was made by Peter inviting some of the residents to the new Cellar last night where we were treated to some of his finest Reds (lost count how many bottles), French Champagne (lost count) and fine cigars (lost count). Needless to say we had a fabulous night, the Cellar has been furnished inside and we sat in candle lit surrounds toasting Juanita, Peter and basically everyone that was there on the night.

Overall a pretty quiet week coming up for the horses but hope all readers have a good one and will talk next week.

QUIET RACE WEEK

Hello again,

Another week has come and gone and I dont have a lot to report this week on racing which was quiet on our front.

All horses that have come home are resting and enjoying the amenities at Amelia Park. The 2 foals are growing madly and tiring their mums out running after them. Its a joy to watch.

Melbourne - DIVINE ANNA

Gaye Waterhouse reported to Peter that the horse is performing exceptionally well and looking forward to Thursday racing at Hawkesbury where Gaye believes the horse is a dead cert. The horse ran a good second 1st up and has improved even more since then . A wager is definitely recommended.

Adelaide
Sam Hays is attending the sales and one of Peters horses will be offered for sale. The market is slow at the moment so will have to see how the prices perform.

Saturday Racing - Ascot
Amelias Reason is nominated for a 1200m 3 year old handicap. His work has been first class recently and hoping to regain his best form, so we hope he gets to have a run on Saturday.

Sunday Racing - Pinjarra
Outside Influence is nominated for a 1000m race. This filly is working well and she has promised to deliver in this campaign.

ADVENTURE - UNTOUCHED
Peter has just arrived back in Bali from his adventure to West Timor for 4 days. The trip from Bali was 2 hour flight then drove over 2 mountains and around another mountain to arrive in East Florice, a fishing village where Teresa, his head girl from Tanah Lot originates from, accompanied him to interpret with the Government. Peter said the scenery and untouched land took his breath away, the beautiful surrounding islands and colour of the sea and coral so serene. Its hard to imagine somewhere being still so primitive but as Peter says the people dont know any different, and that maybe not a bad thing. The Chief of the Island told the story of the Tsunami in '92 that came like a big red wall and wiped out one of the islands. Teresa's Mother ,doesn't know how old she is, estimated mid 80's, walked down the mountain to greet them - a very emotional experience. Peter is the 1st white man to visit the island so he was given a lot of attention. Peter said the fishing stocks are something to see, everything is so plentiful, the Lobster for one, as well as calamari are there for the picking, setting up a seafood company has crossed his mind.
The Japanese have seen the opportunity here and have set up a factory and shipping 100kg Tuna back to Japan.
He lived like the locals and slept on pieces of board and was very careful with the food and mainly ate bananas, fresh fish and Lobster (boasting). I think I would miss Coles Supermarket.

The Government took Peter to the Land available for the proposed Orphanage, it is situated on the side of a mountain with breathtaking views and surrounded by small islands. The Government explained that it would need to house approximately 30-40 children which will be selected from the poorest families of the villages, mostly those that can't support their children. The process will be a long time in the making as there is no roads for transporting of materials, water or electricity BUT AS PETER SAYS - WHAT A CHALLENGE.

He arrived back in Bali and met with the Architect to start proceedings on design and will send him over there to see how best to create this dream. Peter will also plan to have a Villa built with all mod cons for volunteer workers and visitors.

Amelia Park
Peter will arrive home on Wednesday and back to another busy schedule. Peter will meet with Lou and see how all the horses are and plan for the coming campaigns.

Flora & Fauna
Glenn reported seeing Splended Wrens in a stand of Sheoks near the Orchard, absolutely wonderful to see these birds colonising in such a perfect environment.

Our resident 5 Alpacas are waiting for rains to re establish grass in their enclosure. These quiet creatures give the horses a calming effect in the paddocks surrounding them. Their job is also to keep foxes away from the hen enclosure and they are doing a great job. A big thankyou to Princessa, Nerrilee, Monty, Rupert and Roberto.

New Website

Within the next week or so, the site for Tanah Lot Spa and Villa - Bali has come up a treat so be sure and have a look and all it has to offer. The site is www.tanahlotvilla.com.

Bye all and all the best in our racing world.

Best Bet

PARADE DAY
AT AMELIA PARK

Hello Readers,

Peter has just sent his report from his poolside at Tanah Lot in Bali and said he hopes everyone here enjoyed their weekend as he did and is continuing to do so.

A FIRST - I REPEAT F I R S T HIFALUTIN
South Australia
Hope you had a $1 on this race. Very pleased with the horse and how it handled this race. Now its off to Melbourne to start a hopefully successful campaign.

Disastrous - 3 Favourites - No Placings
All the horses performed poorly and it was a disappointing outcome all round.

Almohad - was completely out of the race and would have needed wings to play a part against the field.
Amelias Reason - is a big concern to us as usually runs 1st up. The horse has the staff baffled but will try maybe 2 more starts and then assess and look at all options. It has certainly had enough starts but not continuing on with the race.
Sunday - Princess Amelia - very disappointing race, another puzzle to unravel, being sent home to Amelia Park.
Peter has had a re-think and will now take THE SECONDS, but only for a short time and lets hope we can turn the corner in the coming meetings.

Amelia Park
Peter had a very busy week of entertaining. A very late night was had with his visitors from overseas starting with Tastings at the Flame Tree where not only the Wines were world class but also their expert hospitality to Peter and his guests. It was then back to Amelia Park to the Parade Ring for a parade of several horses, Peter was impressed with the way the staff presented them, and then onto the Wine Cellar for MORE tastings and late Dinner.
Saturday was a great day of entertaining Special Guest David Parkin. After spending time with him Peter said he was very interesting to talk with and it was easy to see how he won 4 Premierships in the AFL. Over a steak and wine he shared some behind the scene stories with Peter, Rob Wiley, Peter Cody and 2 other guests (still cant tell you who).
All in all, a great week was had.
Everything is still full steam ahead at the farm and all coming together rapidly. Lots of beautiful new trees have been planted and you can foresee how lush it will be in time.

March at Amelia Park
Peter has informed me that there will be several functions happening, one of them will be on the 28th March with a band and a big night to enjoy and lift our spirits. I will let you know as more information is to hand.

Well folks onto another week, can't believe we are into March already, the months are flying (lets hope our horses do too!). Look forward to reporting all events next week.
kind regards
shelley
