Hi Everyone, a quiet week was had after the celebrations of last week. Some of the pictures showing Peters triumph, many thanks to Barbara Barclay for sending them to me.
We hope everyone enjoyed their Anzac Long Weekend and looking forward to a short week of work.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DERBY - REPRISAL
Peter is excited to be heading off on Friday with Annie and the other Owners of Reprisal, Brian Bradley, John Ciprian and their wives to hopefully get a Group 1 Winner. Sam Hayes and Darren Thomas will be looking after them at the Races and its shaping up to be a great weekend. Reprisal is one of the fancies for this race so we wish everyone the best of luck.

MELBOURNE - WEDNESDAY
HIFALUTIN
Should be the best bet for this race with Damien Oliver doing his usual great work.
EUROPA POINT
Shaping up and will hopefully get over the line this week.

All else is quiet at home for racing this week, a lot of the horses are having a rest and we will keep you informed of the very next starter.

AMELIA PARK
The Dawn Service was attended followed with the traditional Big Brekky, this year at Glenn and Shelleys, and then an enjoyable afternoon catching up with David & Jean Law who are still celebrating Black Habits win and continued on at Amelia Park for more celebrations.

Everything is in good order including the animals and birdlife and we have a new member of the Amelia Park family - Missy - a cocker spaniel puppy that Glenn has introduced and her namesake is shaping up to just that. We are certainly having some fun with her and the birds are adjusting to her antics.

See everyone same time next week - enjoy your short week.

regards
Shelley

V & V WALSH WEEKEND

Greetings all, it was another beautiful weekend weather wise hope all enjoyed it as much as we did.

VICTORIA

EUROPA POINT

Was a Red Hot Favourite coming from last weeks terrific win but unfortunately not to be this week, one of those days!

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

REPRISAL - SECOND

This horse is having a great lead up to the Derby in the 1st weekend of May, was beaten by Rebel Raider - came 1st in the VCR Derby, so certainly did a mighty job at the finish. Peter is looking forward to the trip over to SA to watch Reprisal in the Derby. All the best of luck.

V & V WALSH ANNUAL SPONSORED DAY

ASCOT - FIRST (AGAIN)

BLACK HABIT

WHAT A SURPRISE - 20/1 CHANCE - WON BY LESS THAN A WHISKER

William Pike did a mighty job bringing home the trophy, it was a heart stopper at the end.

Congratulations to Lou on his second win within 10 days.

Peter was absolutely thrilled to have won the V & V Walsh Sponsored Day Race and collect his own Trophy. It really topped the weekend off.

Here is how it all started.

Firstly V & V Walsh was privileged to treat their Management, Family and Friends to a top night at Jackson's Restaurant on Friday night. Neil Jackson as usual put on an impeccable feast for all, the high standard he sets is unrivalled. I think everyone had a reasonably early night, we maybe getting wiser as we get older!!!!

Saturday was off to the Races to yet another fantastic day put on by Walsh's. The service and meal was again faultless. The only horse running on the day was Black Habit, which didn't put out a lot of excitement prior to the race BUT at the finish line the Committee Room was in an uproar. Everyone was thrilled for Peter, Neil, Denise, David & Jean on their win and collecting the beautiful trophy. It certainly capped the day off with more of Peters generosity by putting on Champagne at the Duxton afterwards, as usual Peter enjoys sharing his special moments with everyone

We were chuffed for Kevin who strapped for Lou, it made it an all round family input as Kevin has been with Amelia Park and just gone up to Lou's to begin his apprenticeship. Well done Kevin.

Lea & Jessica were in raptures as Black Habit - known as Gracie at Amelia Park, is the girls favourite horse.

The horse has earned a spell and will come home for 4-6 weeks to enjoy being fussed over. Neil has put his hand up to take her swimming at the beach in between her swims at the pool so thank you Neil.

We have to mention that we have changed the Annual weekend name day to THE EVANS DAY. Wanga and his family won all the prizes including the Jackson's Restaurant $750 Voucher. We have all voted that they don't get asked next year.

Divine Anna - is coming home after having a few good places, she will be well rested then sent ulp to Lou to freshen up for a campagin in the near future.

Total Marooned - is being stepped up in readiness for a stint in May, should be well ready for a good run.

Hifalutin - We are waiting for a race to come up that suits this horse, will keep you informed.

Galileo Yearling - from Coolmore coming to Amelia Park as Lou will be taking over its new start here.

AMELIA PARK

Everyone and everything is in good standing, the wine cellar is coming along beautifully with Brett working day in and day out to bring it to life. The Da Spa is progressing well with the framework nearing completion.

We are certainly all looking forward to the first rains for not only the paddocks but to have the creek running.

Bye all and have a good week and enjoy the Anzac Long Weekend.

Regards
Shelley

ANOTHER EASTER COME & GONE

Welcome everyone, we hope you all had a great Easter (the weather was absolutely perfect), and the Easter Bunny visited each home. The egg hunt I planned went really well !!(there was only 2 of us, Glenn got sick of hunting). Anyway onto the newsletter .

FIRST AT ASCOT 8/4 - BLACK HABIT
It was a great win and all very happy with its preparation for this race, Paul Harvey did a great job getting over the line. Looking forward to more success in future races.

SATURDAY ASCOT - A BLEAK DAY OF RACING
Unfortunately all 3 horses didn't make the grade today but that's racing and we can only forge ahead to other race days.

THIS WEEK AHEAD

VICTORIA - EUROPA POINT
Very impressive 1st up win last week so looking forward to more good running from this horse.
HIFALUTIN - ready to start this week, will know the fields later in the week.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA - REPRISAL
Should be a good race for the lead up to the Derby.

V & V WALSH WEEKEND
Peter is looking forward to this coming weekend which comes along once a year where he can relax and spend time with the Management, Staff and family members. Everyone is treated to a scrumptious evening at Jacksons Restaurant on Friday night followed by a lavish meal and full day at the Races which is sponsored by V & V WALSH. I have told Peter and some of the group to try and go quietly on Friday as they are usually suffering on Saturday at the races. We will see how they go this year - that goes for me too.

All else is good at the Farm, all the animals and birds are thriving and enjoying the guests that visit them each week.

Have a great weekend and look forward to next weeks news report.

regards
Shelley

Perfect Weather

Hi Everyone, what a fantastic weekend of near perfect weather here, hope all enjoyed it, as well as the racing.

F I R S T
VICTORIA - MOONEE VALLEY
EUROPA POINT - DEBUT
What a fantastic debut for this horse. Peter was thrilled with his first win here, he even had a bet which is very unusual but he got the late mail from Lee Friedman who said the horse was ready for this one. They believe it has a good future ahead.

ASCOT
AMELIAS LAD - Ran a great race to come home 2nd. he is a 50/50 chance to go into the Sires race. He is still is a bit immature but will develop into a great 3yr old and over in the future.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA
REPRISAL - ran an encouraging race for the lead up to the Derby, the Trainer believes this horse has a lot more to give yet.

CAULFIELD
HIFALUTIN - 4TH
Had a good race for this field and is showing encouraging signs as the season continues.

SYDNEY SALES
Peter enjoyed his quick trip over east with Brian Bradley and was more than pleased with the sale of the Rock of Gibraltar colt, who had a swollen knee at the sales, nothing serious and stood tall to catch a buyers eye at the Reserve Price of $180,000, in this climate was an acceptable price. Peter wishes the new Owners the best of luck, who had also bought Special Harmony previously.

THIS WEEK
AMELIAS REASON
Will hopefully get a start, the horse should be good for a place bet in this race.

WA DERBY SATURDAY
ALMOHAD - Peter is looking forward to taking his family to Ascot to watch this horse give its best, Phenomenons will be very hard to beat but hopefully Almohad will give it a good shot.

AMELIA PARK
The holiday is certainly over, the staff will this week complete the stable upgrade and all the stables will be full of horses raring to go.
All the landscaping at the Cellar is forging ahead, the work on the day spa is progressing, and basically all is good at Amelia Park.

EASTER
I have told the staff there will be an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday but haven't restricted it to any one area so that should keep them busy for the day, only 300 odd acres to scour. They all said they were sorry but busy on that day, Peter said he may not get back in time (I think on purpose). Happy Egg Hunting.
All the animals and birds are also included.

PETER SENDS HIS VERY BEST TO EVERYONE OVER THE EASTER PERIOD, BE SAFE & HAPPY, AND MOST OF ALL - ENJOY THE RACING.

Regards to all and hope you get lots of eggs.
